Originated by: Jon Harrang
Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek/Carrie Stevens streamer hook size #6 8xl
Body: Gold flat tinsel
Rib: Gold oval tinsel, small
Belly: Approx. 6 strands of fine peacock herl followed by a small bunch of white bucktail.
Wing: Tied in as 2 separate units with shoulders, with each side consisting of a dark green saddle hackle flanked on the outside with a Coq de Leon saddle hackle.
Shoulder: Mallard flank feather, natural grey-brown
Eyes: Small Jungle Cock
Throat: Schlappen fibers, dark grey
Head: Brown Benecchi 12/0
Notes: This pattern was named in honor of Harry Gross, arguably the finest classic streamer tier in the western USA. Sadly, Harry passed away in the fall of 2010. I was fortunate to know him as a friend, mentor, and fishing buddy. His gorgeous feather-wing streamers had quite an impact on me and inspired me to begin my own experiments with this style of fly. Although I am still a rookie when it comes to dressing Rangeley-style streamers, I'd like to think Harry would be pleased that I am trying to take what he taught me and use it to move the art form forward, just as he did.

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
