Need help tying with rheumatoid arthritis
Forums:
Hi All,
I've been having trouble fishing and tying because of a cervical spine problem.
Now I'm dealing with rheumatoid arthritis.
Use of my left arm/hand is very limited, not to mention painful.
I've found ways of getting some things done but things like stroking back fibers when doing a collar or flipping the bobbin over after wrapping a body or ribbing are major sticking points.
Anyone out there have similar problems that you've gotten around?
Thanks,
PoppyT

Need help tying with rheumatoid arthritis
Hi PoppyT,
I am suffering through very similar circumstances myself, having had cervical surgery a year ago, however I have an additional issue with lupus that makes it difficult to be out in the sun. I will follow this thread with interest as I too am trying to find solutions to health related problems as they impact my fly tying and fishing. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this fight. Good luck to you. Jakonyx
Fly Tying with one hand
Poppy T, I was doing some surfing for hackle guards and discovered a product you need to look at. It is called Evergreen Hand and it is a tool designed to allow one to tie with one hand. I saw a demo of the tool on a Veterans First You tube video but it is something you should take a look at. I don't know how to post a link but you should be able to find it by googling Evergreen hand. Hope this helps and if you have any trouble finding it let me know and I will get my wife to help me with posting a link to the tool.
