Great books translated into German

Thomas Vinge's Danish books on seatrout flies have been translated into German, and have just been published. I cannot recommend them enough!

14 years ago Danish angler, author and journalist (and good friend) Thomas Vinge wrote a couple of books entitled "Havørred på Kysten I & II" on Danish seatrout flies, which still stands as some of the best books on the subject ever published.
But they are (were) in Danish only as you might have guessed from the title... The most obvious audience is here in Denmark, and as normal as the coastal seatrout fishing is here, it's still pretty exotic in most other parts of the world.

But in Germany there's a large contingent of coastal flyfishers, and probably even a growing one, and books on the subject in German are becoming more and more common.
And now those who read German also have access to Thomas' fine books, because they have been translated and published by the German company North Guiding, which is a publisher of guidebooks as well as a guiding business, arranging coastal and river fishing trips in the Baltic region. The books are entitled "Meerforelle an der Küste I & II" (seatrout on the coast), and come in two volumes as the original.

The content and layout seems to be much like the originals - even with some updates and corrections. I personally submitted a new fly for one of my own entries (yes, I have patterns in there!), and based on that I won't hesitate to recommend these books already. They are, as I already said, in my eyes the best on the subject, and I personally use them constantly as a reference for Danish coastal flies.

I'm expecting a number of the guidebooks from North Guiding as well as Thomas Vinge's books in the mail soon, and will most likely service our (German-reading) audience with a review of at least Thomas' books, but probably also the guidebooks, which seem pretty interesting to us seatrout fanatics. I'll of course keep the reviews in English for everybody to peruse (my German isn't THAT good...).

Until then you can see samples from the books and read more online here (in German):
Volume I (Band I) and Volume II (Band II)

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
